Our Story

The food you grew up on
shouldn't need a special occasion.

The West Africa Bukka started with one idea. Pounded yam and egusi on a Tuesday. Suya on the way home. Zobo chilled and waiting for you.

Every pot here is made the slow way, with real stock, real pepper and real time on the fire. Pull up a bench in the garden or order from your phone. Either way, it's coming out of the same kitchen.

Chef Leslie's Signature

The dishes people drive
across town for.

A few plates Chef Leslie built a name on. This is where the bukka becomes personal.

01

The Amala Corner

Ask around Jimeta and someone will point you here. Smooth, dark amala paired with a soup that changes with the week, made the way Chef Leslie's mother taught her.

02

Fisherman Soup

Built on flavors from the Niger Delta. Fresh fish, a peppery broth and just enough spice to make you order a second bowl before you've finished the first.

03

The King of Asun Rice

Native rice cooked in a peppery Asun sauce with well-spiced goat meat. Chef Leslie's take on the classic, and the dish most regulars order without even checking the menu.
